What time are people planning to arrive at the Lower Deck tonight? For those without tickets, how early are you planning to get there?

Does anyone know how many people without tickets are likely to be let in? I looked at the Lower Deck website but they don't say anything about capacity and I don't know how many tickets have been won.

I'm not sure how many they will let in or how many of us will be there trying. I know of at least 5 contests that were on so I'd say there's at least 50 people who've already got tickets. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Re: This Friday's Secret Show in Halifax ( Aug 29th )

I was at the Ottawa show, so maybe I can provide some insight,

First off, they let everyone in first, that have won tickets.  Then, and only then, do they let in the extra people standing there waiting *without* tickets.

Let's say 50 people won tickets, that leaves a good 150 more without they will allow in.

Me ? - I'd get there at least an hour before showtime, and get in line, make sure you talk to somebody there, and find out where the lineup is for people *without* tickets.

The reason I say this, is that at the Ottawa show, they had 2 lines

1 - for people with tickets
1 - for people without tickets. ( this line didn't start until the organizer came outside, and indicated
they would start a second line for non-ticket holders )

As soon as we all got in, they started letting others in who did not have tickets, and believe me the line was long and there were a lot of people !

The sooner you get there, the closer you will be to the stage.

I wouldn't worry too much, - the bar owners want to sell alcohol, and they will fit you in, if they can.

When the ticket winners got in at our Secret Show, I'd say 3/4 of the bar was still EMPTY !, so most people that were there had NO tickets at all.

So, with that said, get there early, and you will indeed get in !

P.S. - I'll also add, that the area where Great Big Sea was to play in, was completely closed off from the rest of the bar, - nobody was allowed in that section.  The smaller bar area, and outdoor terrace was open to the general public, but where they were to play, it was empty, and they had bouncers keeping that area clear of anyone.

Every venue is different, but I believe it will work in the same way.  Maybe others from other secret shows can jump in and say if it was indeed different, give their own info to help others tonight.

The last thing I should reiterate is just make sure you are in the correct lineup !, you don't want to be waiting in line with people that have their passes, 'cause if you are, you are in the wrong line, and you'll then be further back in the correct line for non-ticket holders.

Wow, really ? so you mean when you guys were lining up, to get in, other bar goers were already in that area ? and prob didn't have a clue what was happening ? ...  hmm, maybe the one you went to was a much larger pub, the one I went to, was pretty small, and there were about 200 people allowed in .

there was no line up in Calgary that I noticed... you had a ticket you got into the bar area... the bar was closed to the general public except the terrece... and once you showed your ticket or gave your name... you were allowed to go in the bar even were the band was playing... it was not 'taped' off... or anything... we are laid back sorta people out here on the west... lol... or not...

Thanks to everyone for the advice - I didn't have a pass but went to try and see the show anyway.  They didn't let any non-ticket holders in, but a helpful woman who works at the Lower Deck told me that the side door to the room they would be playing in that opens onto the patio would be left open during the show.  She suggested I park myself on the patio near the door, which was great advice.  I couldn't hear quite as well as I had hoped, but could see in and hear the music, if not the talking between songs.  Met some lovely people on the patio who had the same hope as I had of getting into the show without having won passes, saw the band make their entrance and exit through the door around which we were all crowded, and got to hear quite a few songs from Fortune's Favour live.
